PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN MEET OUTSIDE! Please join us for our end-of-year lunch at Morgan’s Grove Park pavilion on Thursday, June 3, 11 a.m.–1 p.m. Bring your own lunch and drink and say goodbye to Zoom and celebrate meeting face-to-face! All women of the church are welcome.

A GATHERING SPACE FOR PRAYER. We are a community of prayer, centering on the Love and Grace of God. Please be welcomed to this time of offering our prayers for ourselves and others, the community, country and the world. “Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am with you” is our reminder and guide to share this time together. Bring any of your own joys and concerns, but this is not required. Come as you are—fully human and deeply loved. Planning to hold this space on the 2nd and 4th Fridays each month. Please see the weekly e-notice for the Zoom link (or contact office@shepherdstownpresbyterian.org).

FIRST SUNDAY, MONTHLY HYMN SINGS from 4:00–5:00 p.m., at the Rumsey Monument, Mill Street, Shepherdstown. Bring a folding chair, your mask, some drinking water and a hymnal if you have one. Extra hymnals and hand sanitizer will be provided. We will spread out to keep each other safe and sing our hearts out for one solid hour. These monthly Sunday sings, hosted by Terry Tucker with her autoharp, are open to everyone; no need to read music or be an accomplished singer. Guitars and other instruments are welcome; please coordinate with Terry. Any questions? Contact Terry via office@shepherdstownpresbyterian.org.

PHASED RE-OPENING (Small Groups) With joy and gratitude, the Session welcomes small groups to gather in the SPC church building as of May 24th. Since last spring, after Session made the difficult decision to suspend in-person worship due to the Covid pandemic, the Session has strived to keep people safe, base reopening decisions on sound science, and be responsive to changing conditions. The conditions have changed; effective vaccines are widely available, the prevalence in our local area is low and declining, and no foreseeable outbreaks are on the horizon. SPC’s response is to open the church building to small gatherings but still consider when and how to return to in-person worship.

The Session is in the process of balancing safety, commitment to our core values, and common sense as we work out what the current CDC guidelines specifically mean for SPC activities.

And the Session will remain alert to changing conditions while moving purposely and deliberately, in consultation with the congregation, towards the time when we can worship in person again safely.
