Presbyterian Women via Zoom

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN Join us as we begin our fall season. All women of the church are welcome. We start our study in October using the book: So You Want to Talk About Race by Ijeoma Oluo.

THURSDAY NIGHT OUT!

Come out and join fellow members of SPC for a night "out" at dinner. Each Thursday night SPC will be going to a different restaurant in town. We are encouraging people to come and get food to go (or eat in) at a local restaurant. It will give us a chance to run in to each other, gather in ways that work for you, and support local businesses and their employees. Restaurants to be announced. Come get some good food and stay connected with SPC.

Outdoor Hymn Sing

Sunday, Sep 6 | 4:00 pm

Meet every other week at 4 p.m., at the Rumsey Monument (overlooking the Potomac River in Shepherdstown). We will space apart and face outwards so no one will be singing in anyone else's direction. There will be hymnals and hand sanitizer. Terry Tucker will provide accompaniment on her autoharp. If you play, bring your guitar—and be sure to bring a chair. Anyone can come join us or just listen from their cars or from across the park. Invite family and friends. Let’s get a lot of singing in before cold weather. In December, we can go caroling.

Community Dinner

Until further notice, we are preparing our Community Meals with "to-go" boxes for our friends in need. go to PerfectPotluck.com coordinator Wright, password 5777 to sign up. Please have donations at Shepherdstown Presbyterian Church by 3:15 p.m on the day of the dinner.

 We are hosting a Prayer Portico each Wednesday and Sunday from 6 to 8 pm. Give yourself some time for prayer, meditation, and reflection in the candle-lit prayer stations in the portico on the right side of the building—entering from the front. The four stations, properly distanced, can accommodate up to 4 people. Light a candle, say a prayer, meditate, and reflect. There will be places to sit outside the portico to wait for an open space. Please respect others and practice current precautions and physical distancing. There will be people staffing the space to manage the flow.

September, our anti-racism work will continue with a congregation wide exploration of the book So You Want to Talk About Race by IJeoma Oluo. Everyone is encouraged to read this book, and to participate in one or more conversations that will be taking place, both in our usual Sunday Seminar time (Sunday @ 9:30 via Zoom), as well as other groups within the church. Copies can be picked up at the Four Seasons Book Store for $14.44 each.

This week we are going to Lellebelle Cafe, located at 104 E. German St. They are open for breakfast until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday so time for breakfast, lunch or a late afternoon snack. Super delicious food, smoothies, and ice cream. Let’s have a BIG turnout for them. Lellebelle and their owner Jay have been a HUGE supporter of people in need during this quarantine, providing groceries, hot meals, and masks to those in need. They still provide a small pantry that gets used weekly.
